What is From Around the Globe?

From Around the Globe is a distribution business based on the relationships we create with artisans as we travel. Our goal is to connect you, the discerning and appreciative buyer, with the artisans who create beautiful pieces for you and your home.

 

What type of payment can I make? Is shipping included?

We currently work with PayPal to accept PayPal or credit card purchases. In the future, we hope to expand your payment options. Prices for some items on From Around the Globe include shipping and handling costs to the U.S. Please see individual item descriptions for information on that item’s shipping costs.

 

Where do your products come from?

At present, we offer limited items from artisans in El Salvador, Namibia, Mexico, Russia, and The Bahamas. We hope to expand our product line as we create relationships with artisans in other countries.

 

Where does my money go?

We work directly with artists and craftspeople to set fair prices for their work. A small cut for our business helps us manage hosting expenses. In other words, artisans are paid reasonable, living wages so that they may confidently pursue their craft, and you can feel comfortable knowing your purchase has benefitted them and their families.

 

Am I getting a quality item? Will it be exactly like the picture?

Each product you buy from an artisan with From Around the Globe is unique and one-of-a-kind. While we cannot guarantee that you will receive the exact item from the photo, or that the item will last for a certain amount of time, we do our best to find only good quality, durable products to sell. The artisans we work with are proud of their creations, and value their reputations in their communities.

 

Can I help artisans in any other way?

Please visit www.YMicro.org for a valuable, positive experience with micro lending. We work with the folks at YMicro to offer concerned individuals the opportunity to do even more to change the world. While you will not necessarily be giving to From Around the Globe artisans directly, you will see stories about many small business owners around the world who still need our help.

We are also big fans of Soccer Without Borders. This is not an artisan group, but we love what they do- using soccer as a vehicle for positive change among youth in countries such as Uganda and Nicaragua, and with refugee populations in the United States.

 

What is your return/exchange policy?

We want you to be 100% delighted with your purchase. Because the items we list are handmade and unique, and are often shipped from developing countries, we cannot guarantee a refund or exchange. Please contact us with any questions you have before you purchase an item. If an item arrives in less than satisfactory condition, please email us at support@fromaroundtheglobe.com and we will do our best to make things right.

 

If I’m outside the U.S., can I still order something?

At the moment, we offer shipping of products only to U.S. addresses. However, if you’re outside the U.S. and are interested in a product, please email us at support@fromaroundtheglobe.com and we will see what we can do, depending on the item itself and where you would like shipment made.
